Job Description: Nurse III Home Health & Hospice Under the supervision of the Program Manager conducts complaint/incident investigations, certification surveys, and licensure inspections in Health Care Facilities (Home Health, Hospice and Personal Assistance agencies) to determine compliance with Federal and State regulations using analytical and critical thinking skills. Evaluates care provided utilizing established survey protocols, investigation protocols and professional expertise. Completes inspections/survey reports listing deficiencies and prepares written reports supporting the actions and remedies recommended.
Essential Job Functions: Must maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. Conducts certification surveys, licensure inspections, and investigations in agencies to determine compliance with federal and state regulations. Conducts entrance and exit conferences with agencies staff regarding findings Completes inspection, investigations, survey reports identifying deficiencies/violations and prepares written reports supporting the actions and remedies recommended. Communicates on a complex level with others (internally or externally) to provide, exchange of information, answer inquiries, address issues, or resolve problems or complaints. Testifies at hearings or in court proceedings to provide information regarding agencies policy/procedures, history, findings, or activities. Performs quality assurance reviews of documents prepared by other (for example publications, assessments, reports, and curriculum).

Knowledge Skills Abilities: Knowledge of issues, concerns and needs of populations at risk in a variety of health care and/or institutional environments (elderly, disabled, mentally ill, developmentally disabled, functionally dependent, medically frail, etc.). Must be able to multi-task and track multiple activities with completing priorities. Excellent skills in interpersonal relations and conflict resolution. Experience performing quality assurance monitoring, program review, certification, survey, or investigations. Experience providing guidance, policy clarifications, and information to others. Experience preparing detailed written reports. Ability to collect and analyze data. Ability to analyze and solve work problems. Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulations. Ability to work independently. Ability to exercise professional judgment and reach sound decisions. Skills in oral, written and electronic communications, including computer word processing software and ability to be tasks organized and punctual.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Registration or Licensure Requirements: Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact. This position has One (1) year probationary status and initial training statewide for Hospice and Home Health. The applicant must successfully complete all training (federal/state) and any testing following training within one year of hire date.
